Experience the authentic soul of Karpathos on this unforgettable guided village tour, culminating in a spectacular sunset and traditional dinner in one of the island’s most picturesque seaside locations. Combining breathtaking landscapes, cultural discoveries, and genuine local hospitality, this carefully curated excursion takes you beyond the beaches and into the heart of island life.

Accompanied by a knowledgeable English-speaking tour guide, you’ll travel through some of Karpathos’ most charming mountain communities while discovering the island’s rich history, customs, folklore, architecture, and traditions.

Your journey begins with a scenic drive into the island’s mountainous interior. The first stop is a panoramic viewpoint above Aperi, offering spectacular photo opportunities overlooking both the historic village of Aperi and the capital town of Pigadia, with the sparkling Aegean Sea stretching out beyond.

The tour then continues to Othos, the highest village on Karpathos, having first passed through the village of Volada. Built amphitheatrically on the mountainside, Othos offers breathtaking views and an authentic glimpse into traditional island life. Here, guests have the opportunity to visit the village’s Folklore Museum (€2.00 admission fee paid locally) and learn about Karpathian history, customs, and daily life through its fascinating collection of artifacts and exhibits. There is also time to purchase a coffee, soft drink, or bottle of water from the traditional village café before continuing the journey.

Next, you’ll visit the village of Pyles, where you’ll have the opportunity to explore the Open-Air Agricultural Museum and discover how farming and rural traditions have shaped life on Karpathos for generations (€2.50 admission fee paid locally). The visit also includes a stop at a local souvenir shop featuring handmade creations and traditional crafts produced by local residents and the Women’s Cultural Association of Pyles.

The highlight of the day is the enchanting village of Mesochori, one of Karpathos’ most beautiful and photogenic destinations. Stroll through its narrow flower-lined streets and admire the traditional whitewashed houses that cling to the mountainside. Accompanied by your guide, you’ll walk down to the village’s most important landmark, the Church of Panagia Vrysiani, the patron saint of Mesochori. The church is named after the natural spring water that flows year-round from fountains beneath its foundations, nourishing the village gardens below.

As evening approaches, witness one of the most beautiful sunsets on the island as golden light bathes the village and surrounding landscape. From the taverna’s panoramic terrace, enjoy stunning views across the Aegean Sea toward the neighboring island of Kasos as the sun slowly sinks below the horizon.

Dinner includes a shared feast served per four guests, featuring a mixed grill selection of meats, tzatziki, fried zucchini, French fries, traditional Greek salad, water, one glass of traditional Karpathian wine per person, and dessert.

After dinner, sit back and relax as your coach continues along the island’s west coast, passing above the picturesque fishing village of Finiki, the historic village of Arkasa, Menetes, Ammoopi, and finally Pigadia, offering beautiful evening views before returning guests to their designated drop-off locations.
